Methodology
How we calculate this
Each positive integer event quantity is multiplied by its explicitly entered gallons per event. Labeled additional peak-hour gallons are added only after acknowledgment that they are not in event rows. Exact bounded scaled-integer arithmetic preserves up to six decimal places.
minimum FHR comparison target = Σ(quantity × entered gallons/event) + Σ(additional peak-hour gallons)
Avoid double counting
Add only peak-hour gallons not already represented in event rows; otherwise demand will be counted twice.
Compare FHR, not tank capacity
Compare the result with manufacturer/EnergyGuide First Hour Rating. FHR is one-hour hot-water delivery beginning with a fully heated tank; it is not nominal tank capacity.
Installation and scald boundary
A qualified plumbing/heating installer must verify the appliance and installation with the manufacturer and authority having jurisdiction, including fuel, venting, combustion air, electrical, seismic restraint, relief, scald protection, drainage, structural support, local code, permits, and inspections. Hot water can scald; hand-test it and follow manufacturer and qualified/local requirements.
